Reasons for the aging of hollow fibers

As a commonly used transmission material in industries such as power and communication, air to power cables have strong transmission capabilities. However, they are susceptible to aging due to various factors such as external environment and operating conditions during long-term use. The aging of hollow fibers not only affects their performance, but may even pose safety hazards. Therefore, understanding the reasons for the aging of the air variable wire and taking effective preventive measures is the key to extending its service life and ensuring safe operation.

1、 Reasons for the aging of hollow fiber

1. Temperature factor

Reason analysis: The insulation material of the cable will age due to overheating when exposed to high temperature environments for a long time, especially under overload or heavy workloads. High temperature can cause the molecular chains of the insulation layer to break, thereby reducing its voltage resistance, heat resistance, and other properties, which in turn affects its service life.

Impact: Excessive temperature can accelerate the aging of insulation materials, causing problems such as cracking and peeling, and even leading to cable short circuits or burns.

2. Ultraviolet radiation

Reason analysis: If exposed to sunlight for a long time, ultraviolet radiation will gradually damage the chemical structure of the outer protective layer of the cable. Ultraviolet radiation can cause aging cracks on the surface of the insulation layer, reducing its durability.

Impact: Ultraviolet radiation can cause the insulation layer to harden and crack, thereby affecting the safety and reliability of the cable.

3. Moisture and water infiltration

Reason analysis: When working in a humid or water environment, the air conditioner wire is prone to moisture or dampness seeping into the insulation layer of the cable, especially when the external protective layer of the cable is damaged. Moisture can cause a decrease in insulation performance, leading to electrical faults.

Impact: Moisture infiltration can cause insulation failure, cable short circuits, and even pose a risk of electric shock.

4. Oxidation

Cause analysis: Metal conductors (such as aluminum, copper, etc.) in the air variable wire react with oxygen in the air to form oxides. The oxidation of metals not only increases resistance and reduces conductivity, but may also affect the overall structure of cables.

Impact: Oxidation can cause conductor breakage, decrease cable current transmission capacity, and increase the risk of failure.

5. Mechanical stretching and wear

Reason analysis: During the working process, especially during installation, wiring, or handling, the air variable wire may encounter mechanical stresses such as external tension, compression, or friction. These stresses can damage the outer protective layer and insulation layer of the cable, leading to aging and damage.

Impact: Excessive stretching or friction may cause insulation layer rupture, cable breakage, and even electrical accidents.

6. Chemical corrosion

Cause analysis: If the air transformer is exposed to some corrosive chemicals such as acid, alkali, oil, etc., it may cause the outer protective layer or insulation layer of the cable to corrode. Certain chemicals have a strong corrosive effect on materials, especially in extreme environments where the aging rate of cables can significantly accelerate.

Impact: Chemical corrosion can damage the protective layer of cables, reduce their durability, and even cause electrical failures.

7. Electrical overload

Reason analysis: The current load of the air transformer exceeds its designed carrying capacity, which can cause the cable to heat up and further accelerate the aging of the insulation material. Long term electrical overload can damage the internal and external structures of the air transformer.

Impact: Electrical overload not only causes cable aging, but may also lead to serious faults such as cable fire and short circuit
